Water arrives.
Salt remains.

Photographed in the Qaidam Basin, China. Salt lakes form in closed basins where water flows in but has no route to the sea. Rivers and groundwater carry dissolved minerals into the basin. Under a dry climate, evaporation removes the water while the minerals remain, gradually concentrating the lake into brine and leaving salt crystals along its margins.

A place to
slow down.

Cottesloe Beach is a place made for slowing down. You can lie on the sand in the sun, wander along the shoreline, and let the open sea clear your mind. As evening arrives, the beach offers one final gift: a quietly romantic sunset over the water.

In the fog, light makes
the road briefly visible.

A passage through the dense mist of Taizijian. Night, headlights and human figures overlap; after daybreak, the road continues to disappear into the mountain forest.
